A fabulous and easy plant to grow anywhere in the shady garden, as long as it isn't too dry.
Deep green fresh, serrated palmate leaves are present from early spring until late autumn and form mats of growth from which rise the solitary flowers. These are the usual Viola type in shape and on a good sized plant huge numbers are produced as soon as the last frosts of spring are past. Flower colour is a rich canary-yellow and a sweet scent is also present. Rhizomatous in habit but relatively slow growing.
