Product Details
A rarely offered species from with a very impressive stature and form. Rigid stems rise from the ground in early spring, this itself being an attraction as the leaves fall away from the stem symmetrically. The shoots are soft pale green and hold the whorls of narrow lanceolate leaves. The flowers are borne in the leaf axils on the upper leaf whorls late in the season. Colour is predominantly purple-pink. They are held in the leaf axils but hang pendulously in a ring around the stem. The upper parts of the growths act as tendrils, clasping anything they can although this species which only seems to reach 35 cms or so does not really require support.
