Leontopodium alpinum Matterhorn

The long established Edelweiss. An easily grown plant which requires no special treatment to survive. Leaves are around 3cms long and much narrower, making low growing mats of growth. Leaf colour is green although they are covered with fine white woolly hairs giving a greyish appearance. The flowers are borne in summer and are yellowish-white being surrounded by furry white bracts which last long after the flowers have finished. Numerous flowerheads are borne per plant. This new hybrid has a better longevity than the species.
