A herbaceous perennial grown mainly for the foliage effect, it does however have attractive flowers. Foliage emerges in early spring from swollen roots. Colour of the foliage is very attractive - mainly creamy with lines of green. Flowers are borne in mid summer on rigid stems, each stems carries numerous flowers of a tubular shape. Colour is lilac-purple and these are followed by green seed pods.
