This species is often used as a rootstock because it is so tolerant and imparts some vigour into the scion. Leaves are elongated and pale green, evergreen and have a nice glossy sheen. The shrub takes on a slightly fastigiate appearance as each stem tends to be quite erect. Flowers are creamy coloured and held in the usual terminal clusters with the typical strong scent.
