A lovely easy to grow species with similar flowers to the asian A. amurensis. Best on a neutral to acid soil and in full sun if it's not strong like our situation here in Scotland, a little shade in the south may be preferable.
Foliage is fine making a mass of growth reaching around 30 cms in height on plants which are well established (over 4 years old). As this green foliage expands, the flowers are borne and open just before the leaves. Flowers can be up to 2 cms wide and glistening white. These open from pale lilac-blue buds which are very attractive and possibly making the plant as much sought after as it is. Flowering is considerably later than most of the other Adonis available being around late May to early June which reduces any risk of cross pollination for those of us who wish to collect seed.
